Daily affirmations for your home and spirit

It is my deep belief that our home should not only serve us but inspire us as well.  This doesn’t mean that everything needs to be perfect or even organized, for that matter. It is, rather, developing a mindset of giving thanks to all that we have and everything that makes our life rich– forgiving ourselves for the clutter that naturally occurs as a result of our hectic lives.  This is one of my core philosophies of The Design Enlightenment™ movement.

For years, I’ve started my day with personal affirmations and experienced for myself the power of this simple practice, so it only seemed natural for me to create these affirmations for my home. These daily reminders help me to stay aligned with my deeper self and not become distracted by the perfectionist pressures of my interior design practice. I’d love to share the way I speak to my spaces and self and encourage you to do the same.

Give it a try:

As I look around the rooms I like it, I focus my attention on all of the wonderful stuff that makes me smile.  The embarrassing souvenirs my friends think are silly, the furniture that supports me when I’m sore from a workout, the colors that enliven my walls and are a little too loud, the artwork that perks up my mood.  I feel blessed to have these comforts and give thanks for them every day.

The Design Enlightenment™

This practice is just one way of the ways that I stay grounded and real. Start thinking about your home and the spaces you occupy in a different way. I invite you to pioneer this movement I call Design Enlightenment™ for yourself.  It is about finding out what is right for you in regards to the spaces we live in and give labels to, without the preconceived notions of someone else’s life. This is totally about what works for you, and I help grant you the FREEDOM and permission to use your rooms as you wish, expressing only your true and authentic lifestyle, leading you to happiness, fulfillment, and joy.  Because we all deserve to have our homes feel Sacred!

The story behind Design Enlightenment is how I was able to consolidate the two things that are most meaningful for me: design and soulfulness. It’s how I was able to make sure that I couldn’t begin the process of creating interior design without it starting from a foundation of soul.
