MVC Los Sueños Executive Committee

Channeling nature into the spaces we were creating for this new batch of Marriot vacationers in Costa Rica’s, Los Suenos Resort, was the perfect and timely design inspiration for a wonderland of eco tourism.  Our focus was to bring the green of the outdoors in with every design decision made, as well as honor local materials and culture.  Laurel wood, reclaimed timber, hand cut stones and pebbles became the language of texture used in our process to infuse the spaces with a textural experience.  We wanted the visitor to be surrounded by a feeling of relaxation that only natural materials can produce.

Discovering a world of aboriginal history was an added bonus that we took full advantage of, by sprinkling these surprisingly “modern” yet organic forms into our architectural elements, such as lighting and door designs creating a mix that was at once organic yet contemporary. The warmth of brushed gold hardware and plumbing fixtures also calls out to the rich history of gold artifacts that made up the aboriginal arts.  Singular curved forms both in the architecture and furnishings,  strike a wonderful contrast to the the clean lines of modern cabinetry mimicking the  perfect balance that nature has in its sacred geometry.

You can’t help but smile at the colors of flora and fauna that proliferates the Costa Rican forests, so we added surprising color touches into the  interiors of drawer boxes and wardrobes that are brightly stained in orange, lime green and teal, subtly referencing the colors of the bird’s vivid feathers, flowers and even coffee beans that make up the Costa Rican landscape.

The result of this merger led to an effect that is bohemian, sophisticated and chic, without pretension, which we feel will leave the visitor with a memorable and unique experience that can only be found in this unique ecological environment.

CARE IN COMFORT

CARE IN COMFORT

Medical facilities often carry a stigma of being cold and sterile, an environment that hardly puts a patient at ease, not matter how effective the service. We strip away this industrial vibe, replacing it with high-end, luxury concepts that makes the patient feel treated as opposed to undergoing treatment. Outpatient facilities are designed with a spa in mind and assisted living communities emphasize the warmth of home. With the latter, various vignettes reflect many personal interests, so that even though residents are living within a communal setting, they still feel like they have a space to call their own.

CINEMATIC ESCAPES

CINEMATIC ESCAPES

A captivating film can whisk you away, as can an accompanying ambience. Home theaters by B. Pila bring the action, romance, laughter… whatever the mood strikes beyond the big screen. Acoustics disguised in design add warmth to the sharpness of high-level technology. Social platforms extend well beyond the ole’ plush armchair to encourage added engagement, flecked with artwork to catch the eye during intermissions.

HAPPY HOUR AT HOME

HAPPY HOUR AT HOME

The Pied Piper of any great gathering?… the lure of food & drink. Wine cellars, freestanding bars, and lounge areas inspire memorable gastronomic excursions beyond the kitchen, but also memorable conversation.

HOSPITABLE SPACES

HOSPITABLE SPACES

Traveling for business or pleasure deserves a welcoming space within you feel at home. When designing hotels, we reference the property’s scenery, history, and culture to tell its unique story, all the while inviting you to create your own. Multi-purpose rooms adapt to each guest’s needs and desired use. Fun; however, is the predominant theme, and it compels us to think of new interpretations of hospitality… In hotels by B. Pila you can swing from the lobby’s hanging benches or surf the web in the laundry business center while your sox dry – unique experiences and memories await around every corner.

INSIDE OUT

INSIDE OUT

Being headquartered in Miami, and branching out some of the world’s other most beautiful paradises, much time is spent outdoors. To us, nature is the ultimate example of endless beauty and inspiration… and we should embrace that. Hence, all the elements and attention to detail in creating a sacred space indoors still apply to our terraces, gardens, and all other al fresco areas – because home doesn’t end at the walls.

ME TIME

ME TIME

The mark of a great house is one that feels like home, even to its visitors. Yet, connection all begins from within. When the doors are closed, personal havens need to be had for relaxation and reflection. It could be a window seat lounge, a spa bathroom, a hobby room, or a simple nook with a favorite chair… what makes you happy?

NOT-SO-COMMON COMMON AREAS

NOT-SO-COMMON COMMON AREAS

Residential and commercial design lines are blurring more and more… and as they should. Seating should not be applied to the sake of seating, but for encouraging human interaction and actual enjoyment of the space. Lounges, club rooms, and social clusters phase out the vibe of a formal common area or waiting room, bringing instead to its dwellers feelings of comfort within an experiential context.

SOCIAL FLOW

SOCIAL FLOW

Company should never feel like a crowd; nor does a space like to feel lonely. The key to this balance is opening up areas to guide people through various intentions – whether is be food & drink, lounging, gaming, or simple socialization – all with the purpose of connection. The entire space can be enjoyed by all in authentic ways.

WORKING COMMUNITIES

WORKING COMMUNITIES

Work and play actually mix quite well together. Technology has freed us from desk confinements; we can now move around while still being connected. Out with the cubicles and in with communal areas, where ongoing teamwork and collaboration propel the next great idea. Private nooks and recreation rooms provide recovery in between productive sessions. We fuse ergonomics with the respective brands’ personality to elevate company culture, energy, and job satisfaction. Now, the space is working for you (and looks good too).
