High Point Market Spring 2016… I give you MY Sacred Space
Forget the textbook aesthetic or historical notions of what a room should be, I will not create a space that doesn’t align with its dweller’s lifestyle and personality… no matter how unconventional the result might be. I’m forging ahead with a “design enlightenment™” movement that requires us to look within ourselves, awake the unconscious, discover what it is we want of our lives, and make our spaces reflect just that.
For the B. Pila Design High Point Spring 2016 showroom… I present my own happy place.
Every single piece here holds meaning for me, from my very first Hide & Seek design of the Player’s Chair; to the Ambrosia Bar, where I’ve shared my libations and laughs; to the Game on Ping Pong Table, which validated my desire to let go and really play as a designer. This season, I’ve also brought back my beloved Suzani tapestries. The shopping excursion in finding these vintage, one-of-a-kind pieces sparked a whole new bond between my daughter and I as kindred design spirits. This “Bohemian Bizarre” celebrates the artisan, the handmade, and the unique. Some are derived from vintage, others are inspired by the retro, and some are modern visions. Yet, each piece contains a timelessness that circles me back to it again and again.
I’ve arranged this eclecticism in vignettes that lure activity and social connection. It doesn’t just look good, but feels good too. More importantly, it inspires fun and is true to myself… I urge you to do the same for yourselves!
What is your sacred space?
